The festival, which has battled challenges dating back to its time in Playa del Carmen, including the tragic dancefloor shooting at a past event, continues to grapple with logistical hurdles in its new home, Costa Rica.

This year’s edition was originally scheduled for Playa Avellana, Guanacaste, marking a departure from its traditional location in Tamarindo. However, local authorities prevented the festival from taking place at the new venue at the last minute, forcing organizers to relocate back to Tamarindo. While some events went ahead on January 8th, the festival was officially canceled from January 10th onward, leaving attendees and artists disappointed.
Organizers stated that all necessary permits had been secured to proceed with the event but were ultimately unable to overcome local challenges. In a statement, BPM Festival announced that further details regarding refunds will be shared on January 15th.
