Falling Ceiling Beam Injures Two at Radius Chicago, Malaa Show Canceled
Levity’s Set Cut Short as Fire Marshal Orders Safety Inspection
Two attendees suffered minor injuries at Radius Chicago after a wooden beam fell from the ceiling early this morning, forcing Levity to cut their set short. The incident occurred just before 1:30 AM, with a 29-year-old man sustaining shoulder and neck pain and a 26-year-old woman suffering a laceration. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, according to the Chicago Police Department.

An eyewitness, anonymously described the terrifying moment. He recalled pebbles falling before the 10-12 foot beam crashed into the crowd, striking the woman unconscious. “My girlfriend ran to grab a medic as we all cleared the area,” he said. Security arrived, carried her out through the emergency exit, and fenced off the affected area.

Event Cancellation & Safety Concerns
As a result of the incident, tonight’s Malaa headlining show at Radius Chicago has been officially canceled. The venue has not responded to requests for additional details.
This isn’t the first time a ceiling collapse has disrupted an EDM event. In 2014, falling debris at Concord Music Hall injured four attendees during a Datsik show, and in 2023, ceiling tiles fell at Exchange LA, injuring two people and canceling Brennan Heart’s set.
Official Statements
Levity addressed the situation on Instagram, stating: “Something from the venue fell from the roof, and the Fire Marshal needed the set to stop early so they could inspect the venue. It was a freak accident, but safety is our first priority.”
For further updates on the situation at Radius Chicago, check their official channels or follow event organizers for rescheduling details.
