Details & Benefits
This DJ program, announced in June, allows DJs to stream on Twitch without takedowns, thanks to agreements with major and independent labels. DJs will have access to a vast music catalog, promotional opportunities, sponsorships, and coverage of music rights costs for livestreams. Twitch will cover the first year’s costs to bridge the revenue gap between music companies and artists.
Over the next 12 months, as the service expands, the subsidy will gradually reduce, and DJs will start sharing earnings with the labels. This financial model aims to support both the DJs and the music industry sustainably.
Artist Statements
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy highlighted the significance of this launch for Twitch, the music industry, and creators. He praised the personal and community-oriented way DJs introduce music on Twitch. DJ Zedd expressed excitement about connecting with fans globally and reaching new audiences through the DJ program.
